Code Division has created different courses in Data Analytics. The courses use open data sets on a range of real World issues from environment
protection to child poverty. Each course specialises in specific tools that can be used to achieve these
insights and business intelligence. This is an opportunity for SME’s to work on open Data Sets as well as acquiring important Data Skills.

Code Division has created different courses in Data Analytics specifically designed for the Third
Sector. The courses use open data sets on a range of real World issues from environment
protection to child poverty. Each course specialises in specific tools that can be used to achieve these
insights and business intelligence.

Eligibility (Employer)​

Funded by the Data Lab these courses are free and available to any Scottish SME (250 employees or less). Priority is given to learners that over 24 years and fit at least one of our target groups below:

  • At risk of redundancy due to job changes such as automation.
  • Black, Asian or minority ethnic (BAME) background.
  • Living with a disability.
  • Women returning to work or advancing within work.
  • Earning below £24k per annum.
  • Underemployed.

Data Analysis and Excel - 6 Weeks

SQA Accreditation: Level 7

Unlock the power of data analytics by utilising Excel in this SQA accredited course. 

In this course, you will learn how to develop and fully use Excel to unlock the power of analytics and discover ways to analyse and present data as valuable business intelligence. The focus will be on using Excel as a tool to strengthen the learner’s analytical thinking and creative problem solving skills, which are vitally important in data analytics.

The course includes: extracting and cleaning data; data manipulation using pivot tables; charting and formulae; statistical analysis and dashboard creation.

Delivery: Two Half Day Workshops per week, bite sized videos, interactive quizzes, presentations, and online workbooks.

Data Analysis and Python - 6 Weeks

SQA Accreditation: Level 7

Unlock the power of data analytics by utilising Python in this SQA-accredited course.

In this course, you will learn how organisations utilise programming languages, specifically Python, to interrogate and display data for valuable business intelligence. The focus will be on using Python as a tool to strengthen the learner’s analytical thinking and creative problem skills, which are vitally important in data analytics.

The course includes: creating functions; libraries and code reuse; data types and structures; manipulating data from external sources; cleaning and wrangling data; statistical analysis and creating visualisations.

Delivery: Two Half Day Workshops per week, bite sized videos, interactive quizzes, presentations, and online workbooks.

Data Analysis and Applied Statistics - 6 Weeks

SQA Accreditation: Level 8

Unlock the power of data analytics using applied statistics in this SQA accredited course. 

In this course, you will learn how fundamental statistical approaches are used to unlock the power of analytics and discover ways to analyse and present data as valuable business intelligence. The focus will be on using statistics as a tool to strengthen the learner’s analytical thinking and creative problem skills, which are so important in data analytics.

Course includes: descriptive and predictive techniques; probability theory and distributions; hypothesis testing; linear regression and key data visualization methods.

Delivery: Two Half Day Workshops per week, bite sized videos, interactive quizzes, presentations, and online workbooks.

SQA Accreditation: Level 7

Unlock the power of data analytics using SQL in this SQA accredited course. 

In this course, you will learn how organisations utilise SQL to create, maintain and interrogate a data storage system. How databases efficiently store data, help identify valuable business intelligence used to inform critical business planning decisions. The focus will be on using SQL as a tool to strengthen the learner’s analytical thinking and creative problem skills, which are so important in data analytics.

The course includes: how to create and populate database tables, modifying tables and data, creating single and multi-table queries and creating business reports.

Delivery: Two Half Day Workshops per week, bite sized videos, interactive quizzes, presentations, and online workbooks.
