Scotland hosts thousands of refugees, including over 25,000 from Ukraine. Many reside in social housing, while more than 3,500 are still housed in hotels. Despite being highly skilled, with professional experience that is both sought after and crucial for Scotland’s growth, many remain unemployed or underemployment in low-skilled positions. Facing barriers to skilled employment, they are caught in a cycle of poverty.
We are proud to announce our brand new Cyber Program, exclusively for refugees . This transformative program is a unique fusion of essential cyber skills, business English, trauma informed learning and soft skills. Thanks to the support of the Scottish Government this is fully funded for any eligible refugee currently residing in Scotland.
The program comprises of an SQA PDA Qualification (Level 8) in Cyber Resilience. The units coveredare Threat analysis, Cyber Security Controls, Intrusion Detection, Analysis and Response, Software Security, SQL and Python for Security.
This is a holistic learner centred program with embedded core skills development in Communication, Collaboration, Critical and Creative thinking, Business English, Industry Workshops and Well Being classes. Each of our learners will have their own industry mentor and the program willfinish with a 5 week industry led Cyber
project.
The program is

Initital assessment for Business English, technical skills, work experience by experts. Assessed for additional support and Wellbeing health checks. Creation of Individual Learning Plan in collaboration with learner.
Demand led program offers the latest technologies and methodologies; in Data Analysis, User Centred Design and Web Development, Cyber Security and Digital Marketing.
Boosts employability and improves communication. Breaks down cultural barriers, increases confidence and supports integration in the workplace.
Trauma-informed and following VUCA education to inform teaching and learning strategies. Providing support workshops; mental health, mindfulness yoga and art therapy.
Develop skills including communication, time management, collaboration, empathy, critical thinking and entrepreneurial skills.
Working collabratively, Utilising collaboration tools. Creating an e-portoflio of work. Real world projects, expert talks, Industry mentoring and internships opportunities.
Progress assessed: Avant Assessment, SQA Qualifications, competency framework. Provision of learner-centred support into permanent employment/Internships/Apprenticeships/Returner Programs.
Integrated Project: Last 5 weeks of program learners work on a group integrated project bringing together all their learning. We are looking for industry involvement and real world scenarios.
Mentor/workshops: Mentors provide insights and tailored guidance. Workshops by industry professionals are invaluable in supporting our learners.
Sponsor: Sponsorship enhances program quality, can support additional well-being and industry workshops. Removes financial barriers for learners accessing in person events.
Transform: Offering skilled employment enables refugees to accesspermanent
accommodation, escape poverty and transforms the lives of both learners and their families.
